The little prince

A new Swedish prince was born yesterday, Prince Oscar Carl Olof Bernadotte. I love the name and, well, I just love anything royal to be honest. Monarchy is problematic, obviously, but I can’t help finding it beautiful that there’s so much tradition and history that comes with having a royal family. I guess it has a lot to do with my writing, too, because I’ve always enjoyed making up stories about aristocrats and the like, and I love luxurious settings. One of the best parts of writing Entertaining the Sombrevilles was to create the family tree, and give everyone names and titles. Coming up with names for characters has been one of my favourite pastimes ever since I was a child. Which means I always have to create lots of characters, just so I can name them.

If I ever have children, they’ll have so many names. Three each would not be enough!

He’s waiting in the wings

Pocket watchI feel like time has been #1 on my wishlist for years now. It’s long since I wanted 48 hours instead of just 24 – now I want at least 72, so I could do all the things I want to do and get enough sleep. It’s the curse of having a creative mind, I guess, because you’re not satisfied with going to work, coming home, watching TV, going to bed. I have so many projects in my head and it’s depressing when you realise how long it will take to finish even one of them. I think too much about this and I should probably improve my mindfulness skills, because there really is no use focusing on an issue that is unsolvable for the time being. I can’t ask for part time right now for various reasons but I know it would make my situation so, so much better. Oh, well. I’m working as fast as I can with the editing and when I’m done with that, I’m at least a little bit closer to finishing that particular project.

Sleep well everyone ❤

Editing

This weekend I’m busy editing Entertaining the Sombrevilles, the novel I wrote for NaNoWriMo. Having so much fun with this story!

I also got around to watching the recent TV adaptation of Agatha Christie’s And then there were none. An excellent mini-series altogether and the casting is insanely good – I mean, Douglas Booth, Aidan Turner, Toby Stephens, Miranda Richardson and Sam Neill in the same production? I would have watched no matter what the story was. My friend had told me earlier that Douglas Booth’s character had a lot in common with the main character of Entertaining the Sombrevilles and she was more than right, oh my God. He’s such a great actor and I can’t wait to watch the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies movie, which has both Booth and Matt Smith in it. ^______^

I hope you’re all having a lovely weekend! ❤
