Usually, when I’m a bit stuck and writing has turned into the hardest thing in the world, I tend to come up with something entirely new to light that creative spark I need. The problem is keeping those new side projects simple – something you could finish in a day or two.

I did this recently because I needed something different, something to make me re-discover the fun in writing instead of focusing on deadlines or editing or any of those things. But now I have another idea for a series of novels in my head instead, which was the last thing I needed. I mean, I like this new idea a lot, I think it has a lot of potential, but I need to start finishing stuff. 

No writing today, though, just an evening filled with reading. Which is the ultimate way to spend an evening, after all.
